My current practice is informed by sensorimotor (body) and relational (talk) psychotherapy, as a way of gaining a holistic understanding of ourselves, and the work we want to do together.
Relational psychotherapy is a type of talk therapy that is rooted in attachment therory and that all the types of relationships we have in our life from birth to death impact how we understand ourselves, each other, how we connect or disconnect and how we engage in daily experiences.
Sensorimotor Psychotheray is a body-centered approach to therapy that uses the body as a way to access and heal unresolved trauma. Developing somatic resources and increasing our capacity for mindfulness, allows us to find ways to begin to feel safe in our bodies, gain a deeper knowing of ourself, to heal and to gain better mental health.
Before I opened my private practice in 2015, I worked at the Sherbourne Health Center, running groups, programming and supporting LGBTQ youth. I have worked as group facilitator & and community focused artist/educator for the last 14 years in Toronto, with a large focus on providing support for queer and trans* folks and the people who love them. I have had the privilege to gain a lot of knowledge from my community & mentors around community care, self reflection and the importance of holding and honouring our stories in ways that allow us to move towards healing.
All the work I do, is rooted in social and disability justice. I aim to provide a sex positive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, feminist space. I welcome and celebrate, all folks and the varying ways we are in the world; Including but not limited to, various sexualities and genders, polyamory and non-monogamy, lived experiences within/outside the mental health system, sex work positive, and harm reduction positive.
I welcome you to arrive just as you are, and we will start with where ever you are at.
I am a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy and am governed by their Code of Ethics
